IS THIS ALL ABOUT SITTING IN A BATHTUB WITH CANDLES?
Now, I’m not criticizing a great night in a bathtub. I think candles are really amazing but self-care encompasses so much more than that.
Self-care could be saving to buy a new wardrobe or it could be saying
HOW DOES MAKING TIME FOR THIS HELP MY FAMILY?
Have you ever heard the term “happy wife, happy life?” or “if you don’t take care of yourself, nobody will”? There is some truth to those statements.
If you are spending every bit of energy you have pouring into someone else, you will have nothing left to give. Though you may feel like you are taking time away from your family, you are actually giving back to your family when you take the time for self-care. When you pour back into yourself and fill yourself up, you have more to give the people you love. The benefits are you won’t feel impatient or be on edge and you’ll be able to give your family your undivided attention instead of dealing with the conflicting unresolved issues that are weighing on your mind.
Will you always be in perfect balance self-care wise? No, you won’t but that is OK!! Keep working towards meeting your needs while balancing everyone else’s.
DO I HAVE TO MAKE A TON OF TIME FOR THIS?
You’re probably reading this and thinking that this is one more task on your listand not an opportunity for relief.
You’ll be glad to know that self-care does NOT have to take a lot of time. Give yourself 10-15 minutes of the day to dedicate towards self-care. In that time, be certain to do whatever it is that you need that day, whether it is reading a book, meditating, or just sitting in silence with a cup of tea. This is your time, and don’t let anyone interrupt it.
Self-care is a habit that you’ll need to establish for yourself in order to operate in top form. Developing a self -care routine is going to give you the chance to do that at last!
You deserve to enjoy your life. You deserve to have as much peace and satisfaction as you labor to give to everyone else.
