How to have a hot girl summer as a mom
Summertime is the time for hot girl fun, but it’s not always easy to have a hot girl summer as a mom. Between balancing work and child care, squeezing in workouts and trying to keep up with your social life, sometimes it feels like there’s just no time for you. But don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Here are four tips to help you have a hot girl summer even as a busy mom.
Ok y’all , it’s time to admit something. I didn’t know what the term ” Hot Girl Summer” even meant or who Megan Thee Stallion was until every other ‘cool mom.” did. I have to say, even though I live on social media I’m not the first to be in the loop with currant slang…. just ask my kids = facepalm emoji
If you are like I was , you might be squinting your eyes and questioning exactly *WHAT *is a Hot Girl Summer?? In my case a hot mom summer .Maybe you’ve never heard of Megan Thee Stallion either but she’s the queen that came up with it. Let me tell ya, ever since I heard what it means I’ve been all over it!
What does this even mean?
Megan did a recent interview an explained that its about ” Woman and men being unapologetically them, having a good time , hyping up your friends and doing you.”
Ummmm has she met me ?! This is literally me EVERYDAY! Hyping up myself ( with coffee) and doing me ( which in my land means endless laundry).
Now…. I get it ! You might be saying ” Renee, I’m just a 30-year-old mother out here trying to survive off of matcha Lattes and dry shampoo, there are NO parties, definitely no tank top or cut off shirts and I have very few friends to ” hype up”. Well guess what hot shot? I’d have to say “That’s literally me everyday too !” Trust me, my Thursday nights are filled with PTA meetings, hot wheels and lacrosse practice NOT twerking at Green Turtle.
With the spirit of a hot girl summer I’m going t share my top 3 ways I’m living my VERY best hot girl summer as a mom:
Hot mom summer tips to live by
1) I hype up my darn self !
Heck, I even hype up my kids ! Let’s face it, as you grow older you lose touch with the girl group of friends you might have had all of your twenties. Family responsibility, work and just life in general puts a strain on even the oldest of friendships. You might find yourself now spending those “Thirsty Thursday’s” and “Sunday Fundays ” with a gaggle of small children , juice boxes and inexplainable brown couch stains. If you’re like me, you wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m out here living my best life with the kids doing daily dance parties, sing offs and having family food fight nights.
2) I’m wearing a bathing suit
Maybe even a bikini and shorts ! I’m promising my best self that I will be kind to my body and be comfortable in my own skin. We have to stop pressuring ourselves to look a certain way and put the dang size chart down! Let’s grab our bikinis and shorts and go out into these streets just KNOWING we are looking like a snack! I’ve seen so many people downing themselves online this summer because ” Their legs are too fat for shorts, muffin tops too big for bikinis and their arms too flappy for tanks”. Y’all ….. it’s TOO. DAGGONE. HOT. to be out here to be all bundled up ! Grab your suits and meet me at the beach.

3) Always live your best mom life on YOUR terms !
Wanna let your kids eat popsicles in the bathtub at 9pm this summer during the week? Go head bad girl ! Wanna let them play in mud puddles and make mud angels ?? Sounds fun and nobody gotta know ! Don’t let other people dictate how you will spend your summer with YOUR kids. Have fun , be safe and just make sure you hydrate!
4) Last but certainly not least, set some boundaries
Boundaries are important in life, and it’s crucial to set some ground rules for yourself. Try reserving one night each week with your partner or friends; take a walk during morning yoga class every day at 7 am PT (or 8 am ET), block out specific days of rest from all responsibilities so that when Wednesday rolls around again there will be no guilt over neglecting family obligations…and remember: don’t forget how much better everything feels once we’ve made ourselves comfortable again It’s important to make time for yourself this summer, so set some ground rules for yourself and your family.
As a mom, it can feel like summer is a time for kids to have all the fun. But it doesn’t have to be that way! You can still have a great time this summer, even with little ones in tow. Feeling too stressed and overwhelmed with work and home live to even THINK about having fun this summer? Here are a number of different ways I stopped working so many hours outside of my home and started living my life my way.
Alrighty beautiful girl there ya have it!
Those are my top tips to having a hot girl summer as a mom. Just remember that spending time with people who make you feel good is of the best things you can do for your health and well-being, so get out there and have some fun! But don’t forget to set boundaries. Make sure you schedule in time for yourself so that you can recharge and live your best life. It’s time to take back your happiness.
