There is a famous song by, the one and only hottie, Kenny Chesney called “Don’t blink”. While I don’t care for the melody, the words ring true in my heart everytime I hear the tune. It talks about not blinking because before you know it, things change… Big time!
Jetty boy will be 6 months in a few days, this year makes 10 years with PGFD, my first born will be 6 in a few weeks .. Ughhhh the list could go on. Where has the time gone???
But before I get side track I’d actually like to tell a story ….
Anyone who’s worked with me for more then 1 shift, knows I’ve been known to hug patients, rub their heads, sing to them and even hold their hands. Well, unfortunately last shift I held someone’s hand as they died. The thing I will remember the most is that the entire time I had this individual, their eyes never blinked. Not once.
I’d like to think that when that happens, the person has their eyes fixed on Jesus and is already seeing what’s in store for them when they walk the streets of gold. Might be stupid, but it’s what gets me through seeing someone like that. For those not so religious, I could compare it to someone being fixed on “the prize”. Not blinking because their eyes are fixed on the end result. Staying focused to the most important thing in front if them and it being so amazing there is no turning away.
I’d like to live my life like that. “Not blinking” as much, and keeping myself focused in moments to the most important thing. To have a moment where everything is clear to you must be so amazing. Obviously I don’t want to meet the Maker but I’d like to focus on what’s right here. Right now…….
Life passes by so quickly and sometimes in the blink of an eye everything can change. There are so many new and exciting things going on for us in the next few months; it’s bittersweet to even think about all that’s happened to AND for us. Sometimes, with big changes comes an uncomfortable space that can make a person’s head spin . Add in 5 littles and it always makes for a wild ride. While I’ll continue to enjoy the ride I’m gonna try not to miss a thing. I’ll try to keep my eyes wide open, not over think what’s going on, and take things for face value 🙂
You have made some good points there. I looked on the web for more info
about the issue and found most people will go along with your views on this website.
You’re so interesting! I do not believe I have read anything like this before.
So great to find another person with a few original thoughts on this subject.
